21 strategies for breaking in and advancing your screenwriting career



One of my favorite sayings I heard multiple times back in LA was this… (for those of you that have already heard me say this, oblige me):

“There are three things you need to succeed in Hollywood: Skills, Talent and Connections.  And you can forget about the first two.”

Before I get a comment section on fire, understand this: You do need Skills and Talent.  But they won’t come into play if you can’t get read in the first place.  And that takes networking.  Networking.  Networking.

This article doesn’t directly mention networking until number five.  But it then states how the other 20 strategies are all networking involved to a greater or lesser extent.
