There’s an old Hollywood saying that goes “You cannot make a good film out of a bad script. You can make a bad film out of a good script – easily.” We all have a pretty good idea of what makes a good movie…but what makes a good script?! The script is where it all begins after all. Directing, performances, cinematography, score, editing, set design, costumes, etc.; all would’t be what they are without a good script to begin with!
Now think about your favorite films…the most quotable lines, the most memorable scenes, the most iconic performances…those all started on the page.
That’s why the Dallas Screenwriters Association and the Alamo Drafthouse are excited to launch the ScriptsLIVE! event in Dallas as a way to introduce and educate people about the craft of screenwriting along with having some fun – seeing (and hearing) live readings of all time classic film scripts with local personalities and celebrities in the lead roles, with live set elements that also immerse you in the experience.
The first ScriptsLIVE! features 1989’s WHEN HARRY MET SALLY… (written by Nora Ephron) in honor of Valentine’s Day. Special guests stars to be announced.
