Successful Web Development Fellow candidates must be comfortable working with Mac OS X, hand-coding HTML and CSS, and should be proficient in Adobe Dreamweaver as well as Adobe Photoshop CS5 or higher. Working knowledge of JavaScript or Flash is a plus. Candidates must be willing to learn Adobes CQ5 content management system as well as A.C.T.’s Audience View ticketing system. The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), is seeking to hire a Graphic Design Intern. The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is the official regional planning organization for the northeastern Illinois counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will. Position Description
CMAP sets high standards for graphic design, including data-driven infographics. The intern will be responsible for the design and production of print documents – community plans, CMAP brochures, promotional LTA event products (posters, handouts and postcards). Additionally, intern will create graphics for the CMAP website and blog(s), e-newsletters and related materials. Other duties may occasionally include photo research for CMAP image library, as well as organization, tagging, and color correction of images. Other duties may include development of photo illustrations and assistance with graphics for online video.

Candidate should be able to take art direction from senior designer as well as other members of CMAP staff and be able to participate in brainstorming sessions as well as come up with design solutions independently. Attention to detail, following instruction and CMAP design guides and standards are critical, as well as ability to proofread for grammar, spelling and mathematical errors.

Prior employment experience is a plus. Candidate should be punctual in working the required hours and notify CMAP staff should there be any scheduling issues that necessitate absence or late arrival.

Specific Skills

1.Assist senior designer with design and production of CMAP print pieces – reports, postcards, mailers, brochures.

Applicants should have a working knowledge of common operating systems and software applications including Windows 7 and Microsoft Office (i.e. 2007, 2010).
